Stone Care Guide
Thank you for your recent purchase of quality Marble or Limestone.
With proper care, it will provide you with many years of beauty and service. The Marble Institute of America recommends the following care.
Granite Care
• Use mats or equal, to avoid any scratching of the surface of your stone
• Clean up immediately, blotting, to minimize the permanent damage to stone
• Clean surfaces with clear water, then dry with a clean dry soft cloth
• DO NOT use vinegar, bleach, ammonia or any other general purpose cleaners
• DO NOT use any cleaners that contain acid such as bathroom cleaners, grout cleaners or tub or tile cleaners
• DO NOT use any alkaline cleaners NOT specifically formulated for natural stone
• Using mild phosphate-free, biodegradable liquid soap, soap flakes or powders, which contain no aromatics are acceptable, if the rinsing is thorough.
• When repairing caulk joints at sinks and splashes, avoid using silicone based products.
Silicone caulking can stain some granites and marbles. Always use latex caulking.
Marble & Limestone Care
• Use coasters under glasses, especially if they contain alcohol or any type of citrus juice.
• Use mats or trivets under hot dishes or cookware.
